Stack show groundbreaking TPMS at 2009 PRI Trade Show

Stack’s Batteryless TPMS systems completely redefines tyre pressure monitoring in motorsport. Based on patented SAW sensor technology, the problems associated with mounting batteries and complicated electronics in sensors on wheels have at last been completely eliminated.

Stack, celebrating its 25th anniversary and a regular exhibitor at PRI, will be showcasing its ground-breaking TPMS products at the Orlando show. Developed in-house at its Bicester, UK HQ, the system is already proving popular with teams looking to use fast, accurate analysis of tyre pressure and temperature data to improve both performance and safety.

Dynamic tyre pressure monitoring while out on the track allows the team to optimise tyre performance over a whole lap and the whole race.

“A Tyre Pressure (and Temperature) Monitoring System is a proven performance enhancer! The right tyre pressures deliver consistent performance advantages in all levels of motorsport.“ said Stack’s Managing Director, Alan Rock.

Stack’s battery and wire–less system means unrivalled reliability and significantly reduced running costs with no user maintenance required during full service life. The Stack system is the smallest TPMS sensor on the market - 18mm diameter x 14mm depth (excl. valve stem); 10g weight.

Proven in the harshest environments, the flexible system supports a virtually unlimited number of wheel sets with just one module interrogating 1, 2 or 4 wheels – making it suitable for cars, trucks and bikes. CAN-bus output of pressures and temperatures allows easy integration with existing data-logging systems.

As seen on TV: Stack DVR delights broadcasters. New Stack DVR provides stunning on-board pictures of Isle of Man TT races

The Isle of Man TT race festival is a test for bikes and riders. Those covering the event for TV also face challenges in capturing the action from the 38 mile course with bikes clocking an average speed of over 125mph.  Stack’s new DVR was chosen by SIS Live’s Special Cameras division to record on-board footage from the bikes.

Stack recently provided SIS Live Special Cameras with 14 DVRs as part of ITV's coverage of the Isle of Man TT race festival.  "SIS Live approached us to evaluate the DVR PRO against competitors.  It soon became clear that they needed better quality than was available.  After trials we supplied a new motorsport DVR2-400’s capable of recording up to 15Mbps. SIS Live declared the pictures the best they had seen from a solid-state device." said Stack's Managing Director, Alan Rock.

DVR2-500 screenshotDesigned with mobility and ruggedness in mind, Stack's DVRs deliver the highest quality  video recording even under the most extreme conditions. The DVRs capture video and audio that is equivalent or better than DV tape but far more tolerant than non solid-state devices to high-vibration and intense shock and temperatures. Stack DVRs feature a rugged machined aluminium housing designed and manufactured to protect the unit in harsh and extreme environments. The unit is compact and durable with no moving parts (other than the sealed CF card access door).  The card can be removed with ease and played back on a PC / laptop using a standard media player application or easily ingested into a professional editing system.  Video recordings can also be transferred to a PC over the USB link.

Employing MPEG-2 video compression to record high quality, real-time video and audio direct to a Compact Flash (CF) card, Stack's expanded range of Harsh Environment Digital Video Recorders features models to suit most mobile video requirements in markets as diverse as motorsport, broadcasting, defence and even space exploration. There are variants offering up to 4 camera inputs, higher bit-rate options for broadcast quality recordings, completely sealed to IP67, extended operating temperature ranges, and extended recordings capacity.

Addendum

Stack have added to their range of DVRs with models intended for broadcasters and other video professionals. Designed with mobility and ruggedness in mind, Stack's DVRs for video professionals deliver stunning picture quality even under the most extreme conditions. The DVR2-500 & DVR2-500M capture video and audio that is equivalent or better than DV tape but is immune to the susceptibility of non solid-state devices to shock, vibration and temperature.

The DVR2-500 & DVR2-500M offer 8 selectable fixed bit-rates (4 to 20 Mbps) and Variable Bit-Rate (VBR) that can achieve bit-rates in excess of 30Mbps, even up to 50Mbps - dependant on image content. This matches the maximum bit-rate of Blu-Ray (in comparison, DVD's maximum bit-rate is 9.8Mbps).

An option on the DVR2-500 & DVR2-500M is Intra-frame (I-frame) only record mode - a great benefit to video professionals using a non-linear editing system such as Avid or Final Cut Pro.

Stack Multi-Function Data Acquisition Systems Success

Stack today announced the market has responded very positively to the introduction of its Multi-Function Data Acquisition systems.  Technical agents that have taken delivery of them have reported that the new product is extremely competitive with other offerings in the marketplace. It’s quite simply the highest specification and the best value display system on the market today.

The products - launched at the beginning of the year - continue Stack’s commitment to bring the company’s proven technology to all Racers at all levels. The new system makes available fully upgradable Data Logging to all racers with prices from £799/$1600!

Each system consists of a single multi-function module containing hardware already installed to provide a wide variety of data acquisition functions. The module has the basic functions available out of the box. The single box system incorporates the hardware capabilities for powerful upgrade already built-in awaiting simple, fast activation by PIN code activation - making upgrading problem-free and convenient.  This gives users enormous flexibility by allowing racers to choose (and pay for) only those features that they need now – as their needs grow, so does the system!  Of course, we hope that Club Racers get the Stack habit early and stay with us.

Stack Multi-Function Data Acquisition Systems SuccessIt is the impressive performance specifications and features that make the Multi-Function systems such great value.

The fully upgradable systems with CLUBMAN, SEMI-PRO and PRO option levels allow racers to choose their own entry point into the system, and then grow the system over the years.

The Clubman level systems is aimed squarely at the budget-priced competitors in the market, the Semi Pro level of systems for more advanced requirements whilst at the top end, the PRO system MFD’s and MFR’s are more than capable of taking on the most extensive measuring tasks.

Highlights include:

Early feedback from our technical agents and distributors show that as well as the sheer muscle of the systems (faster recording, bigger memory, higher resolution), buyers are impressed by the  convenience of wireless data acquisition (via WiFi / WLan) – some have compared it to having gained pit team member.

No other display or data logging systems can match the MFD or MFR for user configurability and features either as standard or a pin-code away from instant activation.  We mean it when we say: “You’ll never outgrow a Stack System!”
